Our Data Compression feature lets you cut your backup time and number of backup disks in half! You control the amount of compression by specifying whether you prefer to Save Time (compresses data for fastest speed during backup) or Save Space (compresses data up to 80%). And FastBack Plus will back up at least 1MB per minute or faster, depending on your Macintosh and the media that you use.
Load it and forget it!
Using ╥watch me╙ technology, FastBack Plus creates an English-language, editable Macro File, just perform a backup or restore once, and FastBack Plus will remember the steps you followed and replay them on command. You also have the option to write your own custom macros using our Macro Editor and English-language commands. Setup Files also let you save all backup and restore settings (file selection, source and destination devices, data compression settings, etc.) to avoid tedious repetition when making regular backups. In addition, the Macro Scheduler allows you to perform unattended, fully automated backups on any day, week, or time of the month that you specify. The most important part of a backup utility is its restore capabilities. With FastBack Plus, you can restore everything. Or, you can select individual files and folders to restore using FastBack Plus╒ file selection criteria. FastBack plus even lets you determine which version of a file you want to restore. If you perform changed file backups (incremental), FastBack Plus lets you choose whether to automatically restore the newest version of the file, or an older version of the file.

FLEXIBLE FILE SELECTION
You can select files to backup or restore by file or folder name (of course), by size, by date, by creators, and types, by AppleShare attributes, or by labels/colors. Or you can let FastBack Plus automatically choose to back up only the files that have changed since your last backup.
FINDER-FORMAT COPY
The copy operation lets you use FastBack Plus╒ powerful selection criteria to back up files that you can read in the Macintosh Finder. FastBack Plus splits large files across multiple disks if necessary and then rejoins them when you need to use them. Using the Copy operation makes it easy to copy multiple files to a disk and then give them to a friend who may not have FastBack Plus.
ARCHIVE
Using the Archive backup type, select as many files as you like. FastBack Plus will back them up and then automatically delete them from you hard disk.
ERASE
The Erase operation lets you put FastBack Plus╒ powerful file selection capabilities to work again. Select batches of files and folders - FastBack Plus quickly and easily deletes them from your hard disk without backing them up first.
CHOOSE FILES WINDOW
For the ultimate in flexibility, we even let you design your own Choose Files Window for backup or restore. FastBack Plus shows you only the files you need or want to see. You can display all of the files on your hard disk, just the files that have changed, or just the files that fit certain selection criteria. You can arrange this window any way you like. Show the name of the file, its System 7 icon, size, creation date and creator.
BACKUP DEVICES
FastBack Plus supports backup to floppies, tape drives, external hard disks, removable cartridges, optical drives and virtually any other HFS device.
SNAPSHOT
The Disk Snapshot feature lets you quickly record the current ╥state╙ of your hard disk by saving all of the names and locations of files and folders on your hard disk. Use Snapshot to restore your hard disk to a previous day╒s state without tediously selecting files and folders.
OTHER ADVANCED OPTIONS
CROSS-PLATFORM COMPATIBILITY
FastBack Plus is the only backup utility able to directly restore backups made on an IBM-PC or compatible (and vice versa). Just use our companion programs and enjoy complete file transfer capability without using Apple File Exchange.
REMOTE BACKUPS
System 7 users can use File Sharing to perform scheduled unattended backups of remote Macs. Our special macro command lets you mount remote volumes and then back them up.
SERVER BACKUPS
Additionally, if you run AppleShare 3.0 on your server, you can use the Server menu that appears in FastBack Plus to create a macro which will take the server down, back it up, and bring it up again automatically!
